| Speaker Bio: |
John is a chartered accountant and a sailor. In the late 1960s he worked on a charter boat in the Caribbean and sailed in the 1968 Transatlantic race on ‘Stormvogel’. In the early 1970s he and his wife to be, Karen, sailed from Panama to Tahiti. It was on that trip that the Curry’s developed a passion for cruising. In 1996 they took their teenage boys out of school for a year and sailed to Mexico for the winter and then back home to Vancouver via Hawaii. Six years ago John and Karen bought the Hydrovane self steering business in Nottingham, England. It has grown into a family venture with the addition of their son Will - all based from their West Vancouver offices. |

| Details: |
How about a crew member who spends endless hours on the wheel, doesn’t eat and never complains? A self steering system can steer your boat for short distances or ocean crossings with absolutely no fuel consumption. John will provide an overview of the different systems, how they work and what they can do for you. Karen provides the woman’s viewpoint – insight on offshore cruising and how important self steering can be. Together the Currys provide a fun presentation filled with stories, some laughs and thoughts on the serious business of sea passages. |
