Show Facts
- Show Producer Sail America is pleased to announce Strictly Sail Pacific® breezes into Oakland’s Jack London Square April 15–18, 2010 for an action-packed, newly-formatted four-day show! More than 12,000 sailing enthusiasts from throughout the region are expected to attend the sailing extravaganza to see all the hottest brands of sailboats, gear and accessories on the Bay, while enjoying a plethora of festivities and special events!
- The show features exhibitors from around the world who are showcasing an impressive in-water fleet of over 50 new and premier used sailboats, including everything from sophisticated passage makers and yachts, to midsize cruisers, sleek racers and fun daysailers. New yachts making their West Coast show debut include the Jeanneau 57 and Hunter 39!
- Over 150 on-land exhibits are situated this year in the air-conditioned, former Barnes & Noble bookstore, featuring the ultimate in sailing gear, accessories, equipment and services, as well as charter vacations, marinas and yacht clubs. There are several dozen brand new product offerings!

- Spectacular Seminars Presented by Blue Water Sailing – Learn all about sailing from world renowned sailing experts during our four days of educational seminars! The air-conditioned seminar pavilion is headquartered at the Waterfront Hotel and feature five air-conditioned seminar rooms. Expansive topics cover everything from extended voyaging and cruising tips to marine weather, cooking onboard, women’s-only programs, adventure destinations, celestial navigation, fitness at sea, technical instruction, and a whole lot more! - The Green Zone – The Green Zone features the latest environmentally- sensitive sailing products to hit the market.

- Free “Discover Sailing” Adventure! – At Discover Sailing, new sailors can register on site for an exciting sail with an expert skipper and experience the sport and lifestyle firsthand! Enjoy a 45-minute sail FREE with the price of show admission. This is the perfect introduction to sailing!
- New for 2010 – Premium Pre-Owned Boats! – In addition to the exciting display of new models and 2010 models, local dealers and brokers will also be showcasing and selling their best used boats, providing even more tremendous opportunities for buyers looking for great deals.
Just For Kids Activities
- Free Sailing for Children with Special Needs -- Non-profit organization Heart of Sailing is hosting sailboat rides for children with developmental disab
ilities. To register, log onto www.HeartofSailing.org.
- Free Kids Sailing on SEAWARD -- Kids ages 10-18 and their parents or caregivers are invited onboard the Schooner SEAWARD as she explores the Port of Oakland and the Estuary. Sails on the SEAWARD are scheduled for Saturday, April 17 from 2-4 pm and an optional navigational seminar will be held while underway. To sign up, visit the SEAWARD while she’s docked at the show. - Free Sailing Seminars for Kids -- Call of the Sea, a nonprofit organization, is conducting free interactive Navigation and Seamanship seminars for budding young skippers ages 6 – 12 throughout the show. The Seamanship seminar teaches kids sailing basics, from how to tie knots to raising a sail. Seamanship Seminar times: Thursday and Friday (April 15 and 16) from 4:00-4:30pm and Saturday and Sunday (April 17 and 18) from 11:00-11:30am. The Navigation Seminar covers navigation basics, including how to use the chart and compass. Navigation Seminar times: Thursday and Friday (April 15 and 16) from 4:30-5:00pm and Saturday and Sunday (April 17 and 18) from 11:30am-12:00pm.
Special Sailing Programs & Races
- Cruise the Derek M. Baylis – Attendees of Strictly Sail Pacific are invited to take a free cruise onboard SeaLife Conservation’s 65-foot Derek M Baylis, a sailboat designed for ocean research. Learn about the beauty of our oceans, the threats they are facing and what actions you can take in conservation efforts. Sign up at the show. - Tour the DOLPHIN SPIRIT – Take a tour of this fast Grainger trimaran offshore racer, outfitted for skipper Michael Reppy’s fourth attempt on the transpacific solo sailing record from San Francisco to Tokyo in Spring 2011. Reppy sails for Earth Island Institute, part of the Save Japan Dolphins Coalition involving six environmental organizations dedicated to ending the brutal slaughter of over 20,000 dolphins yearly. Come see this speed machine up close and learn how to be part of her mission to save the dolphins.
- Opti-Sailing and Race Practices – The Encinal Yacht Club will run a one-design Optimist Race Team practice for young sailors aged 8-14 in the waters off Jack London Square on April 18 from 1 – 4 pm. See the area’s top junior sailors participating in actual races with practice starts and buoys.
- Mercury Snipe Regatta – The Encinal Yacht Club hosts this popular regatta for Mercuries and Snipes on Saturday, April 17 at 12:30 pm. Two-person, one-design classes are a favorite for spectators and participants alike. Starting line is on the Oakland/Alameda Estuary, just off the end of the docks.
Entertainment
- 8th Annual Cruisers’ Bash: As Strictly Sail winds to a close on Saturday evening, the crowds only grow bigger as the popular Latitudes & Attitudes 8th Annual Cruisers` Bash kicks into gear at 7PM. Everyone is welcome and the Bash is free with Saturday admission. Show attendees must be on the show grounds at closing time to participate. Entertainment and music is provided by The Eric Stone Band. Free pizza, beer and wine are included, while they last. Register to win a free cruise to the Caribbean from Sunsail, as well as other fantastic prizes. Sponsors include Latitudes & Attitudes, Harken, Sunsail, Forespar, BoatUS, Pusser’s Rum, Metal Polish Pro’s and MAS Epoxies. Partial proceeds go to the refit of the Charles W. Morgan, America`s last New Bedford Whaler, and the queen of the Mystic Seaport Museum. This event is televised for air on the Lats & Atts National TV Show!
- Celebrate TGIF: Friday is a cause for celebration at Strictly Sail Pacific with the time-honored TGIF party. Exhibits and docks come alive with parties and fun when exhibitors throw out the red carpet for show goers and sailors! Free with admission, from 6 – 8 pm.
- Baja Ha-Ha & Pacific Puddle Jump Reunion: The thousands of sailors who have done the Baja Ha-Ha and/or the Pacific Puddle Jump – and those who are interested -- are invited to join the Grand Poobah, Doña de Mallorca and Banjo Andy for a Baja Ha-Ha Reunion on Friday. April 16 at 6:00 pm, at the Latitude 38 Strictly Sail Pacific booth.
